The Superb Symphony Spoiled Us

Our students were in awe of the enormous talent the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra possessed during their Camile Saint-Saens rehearsal. Our students were fortunate to experience the Orchestra rehearse the famous work “Great Organ Symphony”, conducted by Benjamin Northey, while analysing the process of which they rehearse and perfect their technique and performance. The students were impressed by the magnitude of the orchestra, with over 100 musicians performing perfectly in sync, at the outstanding ABC auditorium facility in South Melbourne. Students were able to get “up close and personal” with the performers during their break where they discussed futures in music and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra audition process. The MSO staff were impressed by our students’ behaviour and energy and are excited to have them back in the future.

After the rehearsal, students ate lunch at the Southbank across from Hamer Hall, and ended the day exploring priceless and stunning artworks at the National Gallery of Victoria. Our students were so inspired after their cultural day in the city, and now appreciate the time and effort spent in artistic endeavours.
